ABOUT> SYNTHETIC ENERGY, INC.
SE was incorporated (in Idaho) in June of 2005 to pursue the commercial generation of hydrogen utilizing renewable energy resources.
SE is soley owned by Tom Griffith it's founding, Pres./CEO . Tom Griffith was a partner in Rockwood Capital, a commercial real estate investment firm, and previously worked in commercial development for Rockefeller and Associates.
The original plan was to develop a wind farm near Boise, Idaho. Subsequent evaluation of wind power, as a renewable energy source, led us to Hydrogen, as an energy carrier. SE became interested in Hydrogen as an alternative product of renewable energy, "making protons rather than electrons".
The site off Simco Road was selected because it was proximate to Boise and had an M-2 (heavy industrial zoning) for energy production. SE identified the primary Hydrogen distributor, Norco, in late 2004, and approached them with the idea of becoming their Hydrogen supplier.
In order to secure a dedicated source of renewable energy for the venture SE determined it needed to develop it's own capacity. An existing wind farm, off Simco Road was unavailable, as it was already under contract with IPCO. SE applied for a USDA Rural Development Grant in July 2005, which was awarded in the fall of 2005. Zoning approvals were subsequently received from Elmore County and construction on the facility at 2845 NW Hydrogen Drive commenced in November 2005. The plant became operational on June 1, 2006 and has delivred over 3.5 million scf of Hydrogen through June 2009.
SE extends its gratitude to USDA Rural Development, and its local representatives, for their support. Without the Grant this project would not have been feasible at this time. With increased production of hydrolyzing equipment new facilities will become economically feasible, complementing the increasing demand for Hydrogen as an alternative fuel.
With the successful completion of the pilot plant, SE is looking at follow on ventures that utilize Hydrogen as a component of a diversified energy economy.
